About the Event

FilmLab1:
How to move forward and kick start your film producing career.

Our guests will be Sabina Smitham and Lennard Ortmann, the producers of The Master Of York, one of the two 2017 Pears Short Fund Film at UK Jewish Film winners. Since winning last year’s grant, Sabina and Lennard produced fiction and animation films, received further awards, and started a production company together.
Sabina and Lennard will share with us their experience of producing The Master of York with UK Jewish Film as well as the other films they produced since then. They will also speak about their first steps in the British and European film industries.

About the Organizer

At the core of UK Jewish Film’s existence is the notion that film is universal. It crosses cultures and divides and as such has the ability to unite, engage and educate diverse audiences through the telling of cinematic stories that provide stimulating, interesting and unique views of Jewish and Israeli life and culture. UK Jewish Film aims to develop a culture where Jewish and Israeli film is recognised and enjoyed by the widest possible audience, and to bring Jewish related film to the heart of British culture. UK Jewish Film - through its flagship, annual 16-day UK Jewish Film Festival (with more than 14,000 visitors), its international festivals in Geneva, Zurich and Montreal and, as well as its 300 year-round screenings and previews, showcases a wide range of feature films, documentaries and shorts, which reflect the diversity of Jewish and Israeli life and culture. Since its inception the UK Jewish Film Festival has welcomed over 150,000 visitors.
